Precise adjustment of the feed dog height is a key factor in ensuring stable fabric feeding and forming even, attractive stitches on a coverstitch machine. Generally, the standard feed dog height should be set between 1.0 mm and 1.5 mm, a range suitable for most common sewing materials.
During adjustment, first loosen the feed dog fixing screws, then carefully move the feed dog assembly up or down according to the thickness characteristics of the fabric. When sewing thin or slippery fabrics, the height can be reduced to around 1.0 mm to decrease the feeding force and prevent wrinkling or deformation. Conversely, when handling thick or multi-layer materials, the height should be increased toward 1.5 mm to ensure sufficient feeding force to penetrate the fabric layers.
