During sewing, it is recommended to use heavy-duty thread matched to the thickness of the denim (such as denim-specific sewing thread) and to operate with a twin-needle sewing machine. This ensures that seam strength and stitch appearance remain consistent with the original hem texture. Stitch length is also critical and should generally be set to 10–12 stitches per inch (approximately 2.5–3 mm). Stitching that is too dense or too sparse can either disrupt the natural look of the original hem or compromise durability.

In addition, using a standard flat presser foot or a specially designed denim presser foot helps stabilize the fabric and prevents shifting or puckering during sewing. This allows for a smooth transition between the shortened section and the original hem, achieving a truly “seamless” visual effect.
