Noise Reduction Techniques for Overlock Sewing Machines

2025 07/24

Excessive noise during the operation of an overlock sewing machine not only affects the comfort of the working environment but may also indicate potential equipment malfunctions and reduced sewing efficiency. Common sources of noise include worn main shaft bearings, dull or improperly installed knives, and unbalanced machine vibrations. Solutions involve regularly inspecting the condition of the bearings and replacing the main shaft bearings as needed following proper procedures; keeping the knives sharp and correctly installed to avoid friction noise; and using vibration control techniques to adjust the machine’s balance. Additionally, for elastic fabrics, improper presser foot pressure settings can exacerbate noise, offering a clue for further adjustment. By applying these practical techniques, noise interference can be effectively reduced and the machine’s service life extended.
